Bupa Schengen Travel Insurance

 

1. Introduction

The Bupa Schengen Travel is designed to meet the regulations of the European Union for persons applying for an entry visa to the Schengen area.

  • The insurance covers you in case of acute illness or injury for inpatient and outpatient medical treatment.
  • Hospitalisation and medical evacuation back to the home country is covered up to EUR 30,000.
  • In case of outpatient treatment at a doctor or a specialist you will have to pay a deductible. This means that you will pay the first EUR 100 of each claim yourself.

 

2. Schengen countries

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden.

 

3. Premiums

The insurance is available for single trip visa (max. 62 days) as well as for multiple entry visa (max. 90 days per trip). Choose your cover according to the type of visa you are applying for.

Please always state the home address of the insured on your policy.

Premium Single Trip:

  • 3 days - 8 euro
  • 7 days - 13 euro
  • 14 days - 21 euro
  • 21 days - 26 euro
  • 31 days - 35 euro
  • 62 days - 53 euro

Excluding taxes. Maximum insurance age is 79. For persons aged 56-79, premiums will be increased with 50%.

Premium Multiple Trip:

  • 90 days (max. 30 days per trip) - 50 euro a year
  • 182 days (max. 90 days per trip) - 66 euro a year
  • 365 days (max. 90 days per trip) - 120 euro a year

4. Changes and Cancellation

If you have taken out a policy online and later need to change your cover, your name, address or travel period, or if you need to cancel the insurance, a fee of USD 65/EUR 50 will apply.

In case of cancellation, or change of travel dates, IHI Bupa must be notified before the start of the insurance period. If you give notice after the insurance period has started, the insurance can not be cancelled.

Please note that this policy can not be renewed or extended.

 

5. Covid-19 Cover

Safe travel requirements

Whether your travel is essential or non-essential, Bupa Global Travel will only cover COVID-19 related incidents provided all below travel safety requirements have been fully complied with:

  • The insured shall only travel to a destination provided the public authorities in the country of permanent residence of the insured have not issued warning against such travel 24 hours prior to departure
  • The insured shall only travel to a destination where the local public authorities will accept the entry and stay of the insured
  • The travel departure date is either 1 September 2020 or a later date and the insurance was purchased before departure from the country of permanent residence
  • Compliance with the above mentioned requirements (items 1-3) must be documented by the insured
  • All medical treatment in relation to COVID-19 must be pre-approved by Bupa Global Assistance
  • The insured shall comply with official health guidelines issued by public authorities at the travel destination that aim to minimise the risk of contracting COVID-19.

  • Thailand
  • Brasil
  • Sanctioned countries

 

8. How to apply online

Payment by Credit Card:

This insurance can only be taken out online and paid for by credit card. Your cover will take effect on the day of your choice, but please note that your credit card payment must have been successfully completed in order for the cover to be valid.
